This month’s Full Moon takes place on December 15, 2024 at 23°53’ Gemini at 1:02 AM PDT. A mutable, Mercury-ruled Full Moon occurring on the same day Mercury goes direct in Sagittarius promises plenty of opportunities to speak your mind in a way that is lighthearted and less emotionally driven than with other lunation cycles. It’s storming here on the west coast of Canada, and I’m reminded of the profound cleansing effect a strong wind can bring, even if it feels a bit violent.
The Moon in Gemini thrives when in communication with others, and is less interested in being right, than it is in being stimulated by opinions different than its own. The back-and-forth of Gemini is much different than that of its fellow Air sign, Libra. Whereas Libra often requires pushing for an alternative view in order to understand where another person’s boundary or reasoning lies, Gemini seeks to entertain who they are communicating with so that they, too, can discover how flexible their boundaries might be, given the right circumstances, or conversation.
After the Full Moon, it be several hours before the Moon squares Neptune in Pisces, which causes many of us to feel confused about our emotions, and also driven to understand where our confusion originates. If there are questions you need to ask others but have been avoiding out of a desire to avoid conflict, now is a good time for posing those questions. Curiosity is widespread. We’re finishing our third and final Mercury retrograde period of 2024, all of which took place in fire signs. Once the Moon’s square to Neptune passes, Mercury stations direct, and our collective mood lifts: even the grimmest of jokes make a prim person laugh, even if they can’t admit it to anyone but themselves.
